Activewear to Improve Running Performance

When it comes to running, some people can run without a warm-up or without wearing suitable trainers, for the rest of us reading up about the best techniques really makes a difference. Enhancing your running performance can easily happen by choosing the right foods to eat before and after the gym, stretching correctly and having the right posture during training. For those who want to impact their run even further considering what activewear to try is a step up, men's fitness clothing and women's gym apparel has seen a lot of technical change to improve performance, here's what to look out for.

Compressions Leggings

Compression leggings can dramatically change your running performance. Leggings aren't just for women anymore, compression leggings are an option for both sexes that have panels around the legs to offer extra support whilst running. The support reduces fatigue during and after extended runs and benefits recovery time. Most premium brands offer compression leggings and they can be expensive, but they do have a reason for it, like buying a high-quality pair of trainer's leggings can make a big difference. Another feature of leggings is that contain warmth better than track pants so for outdoor runs even lower priced leggings can help with heat and circulation.

Watches

Smartwatches are becoming a global popularity and as well as adding convenience to people's daily lives, they can optimise running performances. Brands such as Garmin and Fitbit are popular for fitness watches, they can track every step you take on your running route and report back along with different health statistics for you to use in the future. It's a good accessory to consider if you prefer road running rather than a treadmill, it can keep your competitive edge ready for competitions and confirm your moving in the right direction fitness wise.

T-Shirts

Mens gymwear can be a personal preference when it comes to running, however, buying a top designed for running can make your run a lot better. Asics now offer a GEL Cool top that absorbs moisture and sweat and then expands to create ventilation between the skin and fabric whilst running. The tops make running comfortable and the breathability means your body stays cool or warm in the right moments. The tops can be expensive and you might find that a dry-fit top is adequate, but if you aren't happy with your current tops then its worth trying the Asics range.

Socks

High leg compressions socks can give the wearer the same benefits as compressions leggings but for the lower leg, however, socks are also essential for the feet. Even with the best trainers a pair of running socks can make a big difference for a runner, they prevent foot swelling, skin fictions and additional padding around the performance areas (heel & toes). Feet can take a lot of damage during extended runs, making sure you buy a premium pair to lower the risk of injury is advised. Good ankle socks tend to come just above the ankle to offer some support and compression around the ankle, Under Armour offer good value 3 packs of socks that are designed with running in mind.

Jackets

For running outdoors jackets and make a big difference, finding a jacket that is windproof to keep you warm, lightweight and well fitted will increase comfort. Some runners might prefer wearing an oversized hoodie whilst running but it doesn't perform well in wind or rain compared to tech jackets available. Nike offers an AeroShield range that is designed with all the benefits in mind and has breathability to release and unneeded heat.

Most brands tend to offer their own versions of each of these products, looking at the reviews from customers is a great way to get a feel of whether products are worth investing in.
